New Orleans, LA – Fatal Hit-And-Run On N Claiborne Ave & Esplanade Ave

New Orleans, LA (July 15, 2019) – New Orleans Police Department was called to the scene of a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run that happened late in the evening on Sunday, July 14^th. Police officials responded to the scene of the crash around 10:55 p.m. at the intersection of N Claiborne Ave and Esplanade Ave. 

Reports show that a 58-year-old man was found on the sidewalk of Claiborne by local officials. The man was seriously injured, and EMS took him to a local hospital for immediate treatment. 

The man was attempting to cross Claiborne when an unknown driver believed to be driving westbound in an SUV struck him. The vehicle stopped initially, but the driver failed to remain at the scene. 

An investigation into the collision is underway. No further details are available at this time.
