Iberia Parish, LA – Man Dies in Pedestrian Crash along US 90 and Darnell Rd.

Iberia Parish, LA (June 14, 2019) – A recent police reported confirmed a man died after a vehicle struck him along US 90 in the vicinity of Darnell Road on June 13, 2019.

According to the initial investigation report, Ken Delahoussaye, a 47-year-old resident of New Iberia Parish, had been walking along US 90 when, at some point, he provided assistance to a driver whose vehicle had slid into a ditch during an earlier accident. Simultaneously, 26-year-old Jerry Reaux, also a resident of New Iberia, had been driving a 2015 Kia Optima along the west lanes of 90. When Delahoussaye walked across westbound 90 to help the first driver, Reaux slammed into the pedestrian man.

After emergency crews arrived at the scene, members of the Iberia Parish Coroner’s Office confirmed that Delahoussaye had died at the crash site.

Reaux cooperated with authorities and submitted a breath test for a toxicology report. He was not injured during the impact.

Authorities have ruled out intoxication as a factor behind the accident.
