April 21, 2013 Worker injured by hit-and-run driver near St. Francisville ST. FRANCISVILLE — An employee of a tree-trimming company was injured Monday when he was struck by a hit-and-run driver, West Feliciana Parish Sheriff J. Austin Daniel said. The man was taken to a Baton Rouge hospital after the midmorning incident, the sheriff said. "His injuries did not appear to be life-threatening,” the sheriff said. The McComb, Miss., man was standing by his truck on Tunica Street, outside of St. Francisville, when he was pinned against his vehicle and its side mirror, the sheriff said. The man, an employee of RAMCO LLC, of Grey, was only able to tell fellow employees that he was hit by a white truck, Daniel said. The investigation is continuing. Many people believe that the victim of a hit-and-run accident is simply out of luck when it comes to compensation for his injuries. Nothing could be further from correct. There are many potential sources of recovery in hit-and-run cases even if the negligent driver is never identified. Among these sources of potential recovery are the uninsured motorist insurance of the victim, his employer or other third parties affiliated with the victim, the State or local road authority if the roadway was defective in a manner which contributed to the accident, or the liability insurance for a third party contractor whose negligence may have contributed to the accident. The key to identifying sources of recovery is immediately hiring an experienced injury attorney. The attorneys and support staff at Fisher Injury Lawyers have years of experience handling hit-and-run and other automobile accident cases.
