Vinton, LA – High-Speed Car Chase Ends In Injury On I-10

Vinton, LA (August 27, 2019) – An extended car chase resulted in a collision with injuries on Interstate 10 near Vinton. The crash happened on Tuesday, August 27th, at around 9:38 a.m. The chase began when law enforcement officials attempted to make contact with a suspected felon.

Soon after officers arrived at the man’s apartment, he entered his vehicle, a red Chevy four-door vehicle, and a high-speed chase began. The man was driving erratically while being chased by various law enforcement departments, leaving and re-entering the roadway on I-10. The man crashed into a tractor-trailer near exit four on the interstate, causing the trailer to spill massive amounts of diesel fuel onto the roadway. 

The driver of the Chevy was taken to Memorial Hospital in Lake Charles after being extracted from his vehicle by the Vinton Fire Department. Reports have not indicated whether the driver of the semi-truck or any other motorists were injured in this crash as a result of this police chase. 

The man was taken into custody by officials. The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
