June 12, 2019 St. John Parish, LA – Woman Killed in Fatal Train Accident on Highway 54 St. John Parish, LA (June 12, 2019) – Police reported that a woman was killed in a fatal train accident when she drove her vehicle under a moving train on June 11. Louisiana State Police reported that the woman had been driving south on the highway at the time in her 2015 Toyota Camry around 1:30 p.m. at Oak Park Boulevard. A train had been traveling on the tracks at the time. Police confirmed that the railroad crossing arms had been down and there were warning lights displayed. However, the woman drove around a vehicle that had been stopped before the tracks, went through the crossing arms, and drove her vehicle beneath the moving train. Police confirmed that, as soon as emergency responders arrived, they pronounced the woman deceased at the scene. The woman has not yet been identified at this time. Nobody is sure why the woman continued driving and the investigation continues at this time. Our sincere condolences are offered to the family and friends of the woman killed in this accident.
