May 19, 2014 St. Charles Motorcycle Accident Leaves Motorcyclist Dead St. Charles accident leaves motorcyclist dead A motorcyclist has died as the result of a motorcycle accident in St. Charles Parish. State police say it happened Friday evening on Louisiana Highway 18 near Airport Lane. The victim was 60-year-old William Ziebel of Waggaman. State police say he was heading east on Louisiana 18 when he moved out of his lane as he approached a curve and struck an oncoming Freightliner truck. The speed at which Ziebel was traveling is a suspected factor in the accident. Toxicology tests were pending Saturday. It is unclear how police determined the speed of the motorcycle at the time of the accident. Likewise, it is not clear how they determined that the Freightoiner truck was not at fault in this serious motorcyle accident.
