Shreveport, LA – Cyclist Critically Injured In Crash With 18-Wheeler On I-20 At Pines Rd

Shreveport, LA (July 23, 2019) – A cyclist is in critical condition after being struck by a semi-truck on Interstate 20 at Pines Road in Shreveport. A man riding a bicycle was attempting to cross from north to south when he was struck by the commercial vehicle. The collision happened in the exit ramp near Shreveport Regional Airport at 6:40 p.m. on Monday, July 22^nd. 

Reports from the Shreveport Police Department claim that numerous agencies were at the scene to aid those at the scene. 

The cyclist was taken to Ochsner LSU Health for treatment of life-threatening injuries. 

The crash resulted in the two eastbound lanes of the roadway being blocked at I-220 and LA-3132.

The driver of the 18-wheeler attempted to miss the cyclist, but reports indicate the accident was largely unavoidable. 

The cause of the crash is being investigated by local authorities.
