September 17, 2013 Police Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Accident Perkins Rd at Madeira Drive Baton Rouge police late Friday were investigating an accident on Perkins Road, just north of Madeira Drive, in which a pedestrian was stuck and killed about 10 p.m. A police supervisor confirmed that it was a fatal accident. An 18-wheel truck could be seen stopped in the middle turn lane of Perkins Road around 11:30 p.m. and police had closed off traffic in the southbound lanes of Perkins. A woman working at a nearby restaurant said she was told the truck driver had gotten off of the truck for unknown reasons and was struck by another vehicle.
