Luling, LA – UPDATE: Cyclist Passes After Wreck at US-90 and Lakewood Dr

Luling, LA (June 11, 2019) – It has been confirmed that a cyclist involved in an accident with another vehicle has succumbed to their injuries. The initial collision happened on Friday, May 31st, near the intersection of US-90 and Lakewood Dr.

The victim, 81-year-old John Collins of Luling, was riding a bicycle in a private parking lot located off US-90. Collins was struck upon leaving the parking lot.

The driver of the 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt, 27-year-old Bethany Branson of Luling, struck Collins on his bicycle. This resulted in Collins being ejected from the bike.

Collins was not wearing a helmet and sustained severe injuries. He was taken to University Medical Center in New Orleans for medical treatment where he succumbed to his injuries.
