June 12, 2019 Livingston Parish, LA – Pedestrian Accident Ends in Fatality on LA Hwy 16 Livingston Parish, LA (June 12, 2019) – Friday morning around 4 a.m., police responded to the scene of a pedestrian accident involving a Mack truck that took the life of one individual. According to police, a 47-year-old of Amite had been riding his bicycle in the northbound lanes of the highway when he put his bike on the shoulder. He then entered into the northbound lane of traffic. Louisiana State Police confirmed that a 64-year-old had been driving his 2012 Mack truck in the northbound lanes and struck the cyclist immediately. Unfortunately, paramedics pronounced the pedestrian deceased at the scene of the accident. Police say that, upon their initial investigation, they found that the cyclist had been wearing dark clothing and there were no lights in that area of the highway.
