July 7, 2019 Lake Charles, LA – Michael Lewis Arrested After Chase Ends In Injury On Shattuck St & Broad St Lake Charles, LA (July 7, 2019) – A police chase which occurred on Saturday Morning, July 6th, ended in multiple collisions and the arrest of the driver of a stolen vehicle. The Lake Charles Police Department was alerted to the stolen vehicle, a 2007 Ford F-150, at 8:15 a.m. Police officials were able to track down the vehicle and the driver, Michael Lewis Jr., of Lake Charles. A police chase ensued when Lewis failed to stop for authorities. The chase went through several neighborhoods, with Lewis initially striking a parked car on a private driveway on Broad St. The chase came to a close when Lewis struck a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer traveling southbound at the intersection of Shattuck St. and Broad St. The crash caused Lewis to strike a telephone pole and run into a building. Lewis is facing charges of motor vehicle theft, aggravated flight from an officer, hit and run, vehicle negligent injuring, and driving without a license. The driver of the Trailblazer was taken to a local medical facility for treatment of serious injuries. The crash is currently under investigation, and it is believed intoxication was a factor.
