Iberville Parish, LA – UPDATE: Hwy Worker Identified in Fatal Accident on I-10 Basin Bridge

Iberville Parish, LA (June 2, 2019) – Louisiana State Police have finally released the identity of the highway worker who lost his life in a terrible wreck. It took place on I-10 at the Basin Bridge, near the exit ramp for Whiskey Bay, on Wednesday, May 22^nd, at 5:00 a.m.

The name of the deceased is Andres Torres, 48-year-old. Torres was fastening a traffic control sign to the back of a pickup truck on the westbound lanes of I-10. The lane was closed earlier that day but was in the process of being reopened.

During this time, a vehicle traveling west on the roadway struck Torres. It is unknown at this time why the wreck occurred.

Torres sustained very severe injuries and was transported to our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge for medical treatment, where he later passed away as a result of the trauma he sustained.

The wreck is impending further investigation.
