July 27, 2019 Grosse Tete, LA – Man Killed In 18-Wheeler Crash On I-10 Grosse Tete, LA (July 27, 2019) – A truck driver has been reportedly killed in a wreck involving multiple 18-wheelers. The crash happened on Interstate 10 near Gross Tete on Thursday, July 25th. Initial reports from the Louisiana State Police indicate that 82-year-old Robert McCarty of Texas and another truck driver had been involved in a previous crash. Both men had pulled their tractor-trailers onto the shoulder on I-10 WB. At the same time, 35-year-old Datril Dunbar of Florida was traveling westbound on I-10 in a 2014 Freightliner tractor-trailer directly following a 2018 Freightliner tractor-trailer. For unknown reasons, Dunbar struck the rear of the tractor-trailer and then hit both stopped tractor-trailers on the side of the interstate. McCarty was outside his vehicle and was struck by the oncoming vehicle, sustaining fatal injuries. The other drivers were restrained and sustained injuries in the incident.
