CATS Can Do Better – Help us out!

Help us out! We are giving out golf umbrellas to help shelter our neighbors from the weather while waiting on the CATS bus. These waits are frequently 45 minutes or longer and most of the CATS bus stops have no shelter from the sun, run or wind. Nothing! Email CATS and make your feelings known.

UPDATE: 300+ golf umbrellas given out to date.  700 to go to exhaust our first order of 1000 umbrellas.  A very small step in the direction of giving a bit of shade, shelter and comfort to our bus riding neighbors.  Did you know that an attractive, comfortable bus stop with adequate shelter from the weather can be built for about $12,000.00.  That is $8,000.00 LESS than we spent on our first order of umbrellas!!  Covered bus stops are relatively inexpensive and immensely valuable to bus riders.  An attractive bus stop will also eliminate the visual litter of the current “rent a bench” stops.  Get behind our cause and help your neighbors who rely on the bus for daily transportation.   https://www.facebook.com/pages/CATS-CAN-Do-Better/484436641685276

THINGS YOU CAN DO TO HELP

1. Spread the Word.  LIKE our Facebook page. SHARE it with your friends. Tell your neighbors and classmates.  Knowledge of a problem is the first step to fixing it.   https://www.facebook.com/pages/CATS-CAN-Do-Better/484436641685276

2. Contact your Metro Councilperson. Demand better conditions for our neighbors who ride the bus.  There really is no excuse for leaving our neighbors sitting in rain and extreme heat.  http://brgov.com/dept/council/

3.  Vote.  Every politician understands the power of the vote.  If your Metro Councilperson will not support providing the basic needs for our neighbors then vote for a change.

4. Be good to your neighbors.  Carry bottled water in your car to provide to those at bus stops.  Buy a few umbrellas and give them out.  If you are not able to give them out then bring them to us and we will pass them on to our neighbors in need.
