July 11, 2019 Baton Rouge, LA – Update: Motorcyclist ID’d In Fatal Wreck On Florida Blvd. Baton Rouge, LA (July 10, 2019) – Local authorities have recently confirmed the identity of the motorcyclist who died after he was struck by an 18-wheeler semi-truck along Florida Boulevard and Eugene Street on Tuesday, July 9th. As the initial report revealed, 38-year-old Ryan Carter had been riding his motorcycle in the Baton Rouge area at the same time 61-year-old Howard Lyons, a resident of Alabama, was driving an 18-wheeler in the vicinity. Without warning, Lyons slammed the semi-truck into Carter and ran over the motorcyclist after he was ejected from his bike at the junction of Florida and Eugene. Baton Rouge officers had been conducting an investigation into another incident along 2500 Florida Boulevard when they spotted the motorcycle and tanker truck. Subsequently, Carter had been yelling at Lyons, who slammed his truck into the bike’s rear multiple times. When the officers ordered them to stop, Lyons hit the gas and crashed into Carter’s motorcycle, resulting in the accident. After the crash, police arrested Lyons on the charges of negligent homicide. We extend our deepest condolences to the family of Ryan Carter during this difficult time.
