Bastrop, LA – 78-Year-Old Man Killed On LA-3051 East Of LA-138

Bastrop, LA (August 24, 2019) – A two-vehicle crash occurred near Bastrop on Friday, August 23. Louisiana State Police (LSP) was at the scene near 11:30 a.m. on LA Hwy 3051 east of LA Hwy 138. The crash resulted in the death of an elderly man from Mer Rouge. 

78-year-old Olen Haynes was driving a 2008 Toyota Tacoma westbound on LA-3051. A collision occurred between Haynes’ vehicle and a 2015 Kenworth 18-wheeler in on of the westbound lanes of LA-3051. The 18-wheeler rolled over and came to a stop on the roadway. Haynes was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
