Ascension Parish, LA – Update: 8-Year-Old Killed in Fatal Crash on US Highway 61

Ascension Parish, LA (July 17, 2019) – Around 5:00 p.m. on July 12^th, Louisiana State Police responded to the scene of a fatal crash that took place on US Highway 61.

The crash took the life of an 8-year-old identified as Lyric Crenshaw, of Baton Rouge. Police claim that, at the time, 32-year-old Averiel Crenshaw was traveling southbound on the highway in a Toyota. Lyric was in the front seat of the Toyota.

At that time, a Ford F-150 was headed northbound. Crenshaw made a left turn, putting the vehicle directly into the path of the Ford. The Toyota was struck forcefully on the passenger’s side.

Lyric Crenshaw was immediately ejected from the vehicle. Police claim that he was transported to a local hospital and tragically passed away due to his injuries. Averiel was seriously injured and taken to the hospital.

The driver and passenger in the Ford sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital but are expected to be okay.

The investigation into the accident continues at this time.
