As more people are using cell phones, there are more diversions to take the attention of drivers off the road. In 2015, nearly 4,000 people were killed in car wrecks involving distracted motorists. When a driver isn’t paying attention to the road, they are more likely to hit a pedestrian or another car. In a fit of panic and desperation, the driver may leave the scene of the crash and commit a hit-and-run. These accidents are illegal in the state of Louisiana as well as the rest of the United States. Victims should protect their legal rights after being injured in a hit-and-run.
