Claiborne Parish, LA – Unrestrained Passenger Killed In Crash On LA-518

Claiborne Parish, LA (July 21, 2019) – There was a fatal car accident that took place on LA-518 just south of LA-146 in Claiborne Parish. Troopers from the Louisiana State Police responded to the scene around 5:00 a.m. to begin an initial investigation into the collision. The accident took the life of a man from Princeton. 

The accident involved a single vehicle, a 2007 Ford pickup truck, driven by 18-year-old Kara Grimm, of Shreveport. The truck traveled off the right side of the road, causing the driver to overcorrect and lose control of the vehicle. Grimm was ejected from the vehicle, along with her passenger, 23-year-old Sheldon Cruse. 

Grimm sustained severe injuries and was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. Cruse was also severely injured, sustaining life-threatening injuries, and was taken to a local medical facility, where he later succumbed to his injuries. 

Routine toxicology tests are pending, and an investigation concerning the cause of the accident is underway.
