Monroe, LA – Passenger Killed & Driver Injured On LA-15

Monroe, LA (July 21, 2019) – Lousiana State Police were at the scene of a fatal car accident around 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 21^st. The crash took place on LA Hwy 15 south of Monroe. The passenger in the car lost her life in the incident. 

The deceased has been identified as 36-year-old Ashley Dixon, of Monroe. 

Reports from authorities claim that the vehicle, a 2013 Ford Escape driven by 35-year-old Christopher Johnson, also from Monroe, was traveling northbound on LA-15. 

The vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway for unknown reasons, struck an embankment, and became airborne. The tree came to a rest after striking a tree, which caused Dixon to be ejected from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead by responding paramedics at the scene.

Johnson also sustained injuries in the crash and was transported to a local medical facility. 

It is unknown if intoxication was a factor in the crash at this time. 

The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
